  • Home-based entertainment worsens communication skills. Home-based entertainment takes people away from communicating with one-another on a human level. This means that individuals lose practice in their fundamental communication skills, making inter-human communication more difficult and less gratifying. By making it harder for individuals to identity with one-another, home entertainment generally estranges individuals and creates a kind of loneliness, even when in the presence of others. In addition, because inter-personal communications are more difficult, individuals may choose to withdraw more and more, causing greater separation and loneliness.
  • Internet is just as responsible as home-based entertainment. The integration of technology into our society is a more accurate target for the loneliness that is currently rampant within our society. Home-based entertainment is only one of a multitude of factors which create alienation between humans. Things such as IM, Facebook, Twitter, and Photobucket, and internet forums hold much more responsibility. We do not even have to leave our home to interact with people, and as such, we are gradually unplugging from the world that we live in. As a result. our interpersonal skills become rusty, or perhaps, we lose the desire to interact with others on a real-world, real-time basis altogether. This is largely a passive effect, and we may not even be aware of it. However, there comes a day for every person, when they realize that they have lost touch with reality. When this happens, we are attacked with bouts of loneliness and insecurity.
